I got this list from Andrew and even with just a cursory glance, I can tell you I probably haven’t seen a fraction of these movies and some I’ve never even heard of. Where are the silent movies? The classics from the 1930s and 1940s? Or even the originals of some films listed here? Not that I’ve seen the original “Ocean’s 11,” mind you, but still…thank God there was no mention of the remake of “The Day The Earth Stood Still” or “The Women.”
Wait, where are the classic porn movies, come to think of it? Okay, so I’ve seen only one porn movie that could be considered classic…and “Deep Throat” it wasn’t. Sadly, the first porn movie I ever saw (and still have fond memories of…umm…watching very intently) was “A Scent of Heather.” I know exactly three other people who saw the same movie because we were all together at the time. And I don’t think that specific porno is considered a classic in any sense of the word.
Am I seriously *that* particular, more or less about film? Or perhaps a more apt description is out of touch, to be honest…maybe even more appropriate would be off in my own celluloid world.
My grand total added up to 58; had there been more of a variety (because movies were not brand new in the 1970s!), I would have scored much, much higher. I also didn’t count movies I’ve seen multiple times, like “Grease” and “RHPS” and “Napoleon Dynamite” or any of the original Star Wars movies (I’d like to pretend I hadn’t seen the “first” three, because they sucked!) as many times as I’ve seen them. That would have been insanity and I think I’ve likely lost count on at least the Star Wars films about the time I’d seen them 20 times or so. Each.
