Old Skool Christmas lights

This is the spot that really rocked me back on my heels yesterday while watching that VH1 special; not only had I forgotten about the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine, but I’d also forgotten about the little girl with the ponytails and the striped sweater and how, at approximately :18 in, she touches her upper lip while reciting her lines.

But as soon as I saw it, the memories of wondering why the hell she did that came rushing back and I’m sure will continue to plague me as an adult as it plagued me when I was a wee lass.

It’s yummy, Snoopy!

I thought yesterday would be spent in front of the television, watching “A Christmas Story,” beloved in my family for many, many reasons and for many, many years. I don’t know exactly what happened, but I found myself trapped at VH1, unable to change the channel while watching the countdown of the top 100 toys of all time. It was four well-spent hours, I must admit and I’m sure the one hour I missed was just as wonderful as the four I didn’t.

Without giving anything away about where various toys placed on the list, the #1 ranked toy surprised me, but I guess in the long run, it shouldn’t have. My emm snorted herself awake a couple of times and watched bits and pieces of the show and was as surprised as I was, although she’s denying it now.

I was amazed at the things I’d totally forgotten about through the years that came back with screamingly fast recall as soon as the old commercials used throughout the show played, including this one:

There were some others that I’ll post later…I have to leave in a few minutes for work. What the hell was I thinking not to take today off?
