I Hate Scotland

- Ruff Day

I’m not sure I would trade in all my hopes and dreams and ambitions and aspirations for a springboard and a pair of shorts and a plain white-shirt, but…well. This song totally describes my life right now on a lot of different levels and in a lot of different ways and I am grateful for @hikethekilt for sharing it with me. I can’t even get my head around how many ways this song is my life without feeling I might implode or combust or just fade away forever. Even if I could, I think I’d rather keep it to myself.
Here, pretend you were standing next to me when I was talking to the sister last night and overheard my part of the conversation: “Yeah, there are some things about my life that are getting a bit old.”
And when I listen to this song, I think I could probably find the courage to change those things in my life that are getting tired and in my braver moments, I know I could find that courage.
But in the end, I know I won’t.
Sometimes in my life
I take all my hopes and dreams
All my ambitions and all my aspirations
And I give them all up
Trade them all in
Put them all to one sideFor a springboard
And a pair of shorts
And a plain white t-shirt
And the ability to do a perfect backflipI think if I could do it
The seconds would feel like hours to me
It would be like medicine
Staying with me during the days and during the weeks
when I’m just pushing on
Just getting byAnd it’s funny how your life is
It’s funny how you can spend years and years
Building up layer by layer
And then throw it all away in a secondAnd I’m not all what I used to be
And although I’ve more or less accepted it
Although I’m no longer trying to change it
I still regret it
I regret it every dayI’m not all what I used to be
Maybe it’s Scotland I hate
I know I hate so many things about it
I hate the way punishments are the heart of everything
I hate the way parents beat their children
I hate the way everything always has to be someone’s fault
Even though some things just happened
Some things just happened!I hate the way people bring up their children
To be exactly the same as they are
Just so they can justify the way they’ve lived their livesI hate the way we expect to fail
And then we fail
And then we get bitter because we failedMaybe it’s Scotland I hate
Maybe Scotland’s got nothing to do with it
Maybe all this has got nothing to do with anythingBut I know that I would give it all up
Trade it all inFor a springboard
And a pair of shorts
And a plain white t-shirt
And a perfect backflipA springboard
And a pair of shorts
And a plain white t-shirt
And a perfect backflipI’d give it all up for that
I’d give it all up for that
I’d give it all up for that© Ballboy

@wes You’re so sweet. =)
Perhaps I should have my own mouth-sized action figure counterpart, then? :)
@wes Hee hee hee. I can’t even think of a way to respond that won’t sound dirty or kinky, so I’ll just giggle!
And after I went to all the trouble of setting you up for such a response, too! ;)
That’s a pretty cute picture, by the way, even if you do appear to be somewhat downtrodden in it. You look like you could use a friendly backrub. :)
@wes *squeak!*
