The last gasp of Fashionista Fever
I’ve been wanting to work on the last installment of Sarah Jane Smith – Fashionista Fever for a while now and of course, it never fails that when I’m finally settled down enough to do just that, the timing is just off. Yes, that’s correct – the last installment of the series. It wasn’t a decision I made lightly, as I’d planned to continue simultaneously snarking and adoring everything Sarah! Jane! wore in The Sarah Jane Adventures, very much in the same vein I’ve done with all the classic Doctor Who serials and any number of Who-related programs.
After realizing that nothing Sarah! Jane!’s worn in The Sarah Jane Adventures can even be snarked at lightly, I knew the Fashionista Fever series had reached its logical end. If I can’t make adoring fun of the old girl’s clothing, there’s no sense just fawning over it, with no jesting included, is there? Plus, our Sarah! Jane! has pretty much settled on a single look, if you will: a top, usually long sleeved, untucked, and with strategically located buttons, um, unbuttoned (but always very tastefully done – it’s my mind that imagines it untastefully done); a vest of some sort, typically shorter and darker than the top, jeans that she always looks tremendous wearing, and boots – knee-high, black leather boots. I suppose there are various jackets and coat included, but even so, Sarah! Jane! works a pretty standard wardrobe these days. Gone are the headey heady (sorry…got Lena on the brain tonight – I still can’t believe she’s British and I’m crushing on her terribly and she’s not a hundred years old) days of huge collars and coolottes and those beloved tight UNIT cammies and the pink striped socks and the Legendary Andy Pandy Outfit.
Don’t count me out for a possible one-off revisit of Fashionista Fever, depending on what Series Three of The Sarah Jane Adventures throws our way. But now it’s time to get to work on that next installment, the final installment, where Sarah! Jane!’s appearances in the new-school Doctor Who are snarked upon and adored, with perhaps a bit of this post cannibalized towards the end, when mentioning The Sarah Jane Adventures cannot be avoided.
Not that it should be avoided…have I mentioned before how cute-as-a-button Sarah! Jane! grew up to be totally-dead-sexy Sarah! Jane!? I have, hunh? Maybe once or twice, just in passing, I know.

Last installment?! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I wouldn’t be averse to reading unsnarky pieces in which you simply fawn over SJS’s clothing, but I can understand your decision. Perhaps the series can move into a second volume — Liz Shaw Fashionista Fever! — hmmm? :D
(Yes, I read this post days ago, but I am just getting around to typing a comment on it. Apologies!)
No worries at all. =) Yes, the last installment. I could fawn for hours over S!J! (as you can bear witness to, at least in abbreviated form), but there's no fun if there's no snark, no matter how adoration really is underneath. I do have something in mind for a Liz Shaw project, but have managed to lose much of the momentum behind it. I think I need to pop in a Doctor Who serial – any serial, any serial at all. It's been weeks since I watched it, as caught up with TSCC, Cybergirl (Cy = adorable!) and most recently, The Broken (WTF? Seriously.). I'm thinking about going back to the Key to Time Series, or perhaps jumping into Jo's era to keep the Pertwee power fresh whilst I wait for the action figure. =)
Wait. Liz Shaw Fashionista Fever? OMG. That's perfect and may have some potential, more than the whole hair thing I'd started…
