But when you see Sarah! Jane! flapping behind one as he/it threatens the Doctor once they’ve got back to London, and you’re not sure if she’s having some sort of seizure or pretending she’s a bird taking off or probably trying to be all tough and in his/its face (but with his/its back turned), it’s amusing. But when the Zygon turns on flapping Sarah! Jane! and she screams and darts away, screeching for the Brigadier, really, one cannot help but laugh.

And laugh again each time you rewatch the scene just for the entertainment value. It was as funny the third? fourth? time I watched it last night as it was the first time. I lost count eventually of how many times I repeated the scene. It’s just so…Sarah! Jane!

God, I love her.

For real fill-your-pants type horror the Drashigs are unbeatable. They left indelible scars on my tender adolescent psyche, owing to the fact that over three or four years I’d only catch the same couple of episodes from Carnival of Monsters.
The cliffhanger ending where these uberfuglies rear up out of the water in front of the Doctor and Jo will haunt me to my grave…

Yeah, those Drashigs are pretty bad, scary and ugly and mean! I think the Carnival of Monsters sidekick was more frightening, but on a different scale. I’ll be posting a series of screencaps of that awful outfit as soon as I move the files from my other computer…
